KUMU AKAKA has been teaching Chorals at the middle school for 13 years. Before that he was a marching band director for the high school, UH Lab School and Kahuku High & Elementary. He also performs in Waikiki and does concert performances in the islands, mainland, and Japan.
DANIEL PAGAN joined us in 2007 as an assistant for the Hawaiian Ensemble. He received training as a student of the Roy Sakuma ‘Ukulele Academy and presently plays in the Praise and Worship band at his church.
MANDY LYMAN has been associated with the NOS for a few years assisting with both the choir and Hawaiian Ensemble. She plays and sings professionally and occasionally joins her tutu Auntie Genoa Keawe on stage.
JULIANNE HIU is very excited for the opportunity to work with Kumu Akaka and the students of Kamehameha. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education in secondary vocal music at the University of Hawai’i. Last year, she served as the choral intern at Mid Pacific Institute and is presently serving as the choral intern at Harris United Methodist Church.
