Kapalama High School Athletics

Please join me in congratulating our student athletes and the coaches who led them to victory this weekend. It was a banner weekend for Kamehameha Kapalama athletics. In cross country, our young men placed first in the state and our young women placed third. Steve Jenness is the head coach for the men and David Friedeman for the women. In football, permanent sub and head coach David Stant's varsity team beat St. Louis and is in contention for the ILH title. Come support them against Punahou at the stadium this Thursday evening. Big game coming up! In girls volleyball, science teacher and head coach Chris Blake ably guided our young ladies through an amazing season from start to finish which culminated in a victory against previously undeated Punahou for the Division I state title. Punahou had beaten us twice in the regular season. This was our fifth state title in a row. In bowling, Bradley Doi, coached by high school administrative assistant Mickie Ceberano, is a two-time ILH Boys Bowling champion. In kayaking, our young women won the ILH championship, led by head coach Dr. Blane Chong and Ka`ili Chong. We celebrate the accomplishments of our students and staff both in and out of the classroom.
