KS Surf Sample Sale & Awareness

The 2nd Annual Kamehameha Schools Surf Sample Sale and Awareness on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the campus’s Kōnia field from 10-2 p.m. At this event, the club’s vision is to promote surfing in a positive way and help two charity groups. Profits from the sold goods at the Surf Sample Sale will be donated to 1) Honolulu Shriners Hospital for Children, which is a children’s hospital that provides care for thousands of kids with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate, in a family-centered environment at no charge and 2) Queen Lili‘uokalani Children’s Center, whose foundation is to care for, work, and support orphan and destitute children, with preference for Hawaiian children in Hawai‘i.

In addition to the business side, there will also be an educational and learning opportunity for the students and public. We invite various non-profit organizations, cultural, environmental groups, and ocean related organizations to teach the kids and public about the current state of Hawaii's ecosystem, resources, people, and ways to give back to the community. (Tom Pohaku Stone, Rell Sunn Foundation, Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation, Eddie Aikau Foundation, Na Kama Kai, DLNR and Forest & Wild Life, Surfing the Nations, Keiki o ka ‘Āina, Kahea, and many more)!
