Printmaking I - Printmaking II

Printmaking I  [4159 (Alt 9,10,11,12)]
Semester (may be repeated), Prerequisite: Art History, Theory & Practice.
 
Screen Printing students will learn the techniques of the hand-cut stencil and photo emulsion/film stencils in the production of original serigraph prints.  Students will learn to stretch monofilament over a frame, adhere the stencil, and print with multiple registered screens and colored inks.  Printing will be done on a variety of surfaces including paper and fabric.  Design and originality will be emphasized on each project.  Other printmaking methods will be explored in leading into Screen Printing (these methods may include kapa, linoleum print, collagraph, intaglio and monotypes).  This course may be repeated for credit - Screen Printing II.
 
Printmaking II [4160 (Alt 9,10,11,12)]
Semester (may be repeated), Prerequisite: Art History, Theory & Practice and Silkscreen I.
 
The Screen Printing II students will focus on developing their skills of various methods of serigraphy and printmaking through self-expression.  These advanced printmaking techniques, such as kapa, wood cut, multi-color registrations, lithography, etching, and digital, will be used for sophisticated problem solving.  Projects are to be determined on an individual basis with the instructor.  Students will prepare a portfolio of artwork for college and/or jobapplications.  Students featured in small group displays/exhibits an/or publications.  Independent working will be emphasized and encouraged.  This course may be repeated for credit.
