Medical Services Department Kapalama Campus Services available to Boarding Students Hale Ola serves as the primary source of medical care to boarding students. Referrals for treatment, testing, or services not available at Hale Ola will be made to outside facilities or physicians by the Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Director. Parents/guardians will be contacted prior to referral. Any cost incurred from outside referrals and treatments is the responsibility of the parents/guardians. A boarder who is not able to return to the dorm because of illness or injury may be admitted to Hale Ola or discharged to the care of a parent/sponsor. Hale Ola provides transportation for routine appointments in the Honolulu area. However, due to the number of students requiring transportation to off campus appointments, it is not possible for staff to accompany individual students to their appointments. Hale Ola support staff is in radio contact with the driver. When the student is ready for pick-up, the driver is notified immediately. The system limits the time the student is left unattended. The use of sponsors is encouraged should you not be comfortable with the above system. Scheduling of off campus appointments should be made in coordination with Hale Ola staff.
