Welcome
Aloha
mai kakou! Welcome to the new 2008-09 school year! During this first
semester we will be upgrading our website. Therefore, only basic information
will be added here. Once finished, the new site will continue to be
a link on our Middle School website. Mahalo for your patience and have
a great year!
We,
the Counseling Department of Kamehameha Middle School, are very excited
and happy to introduce you to our website. It is our hope that this
website will serve as a communication piece between home and school
that will contribute to your child’s academic and personal success.
Through
our site you will be able to find out a little bit more about our counselors
and more importantly, about our guidance program. Also included is a
calendar of events noting important dates in our school year and links
to sites that we think would benefit your relationship with your adolescent.
Should
you have any questions, comments, or just want to contact your child’s
counselor please give us a call or send us an email. We’d love
to hear from you!
About
our office...
The Counseling Center
is located in Ka'iulani
Building (across the dorms), Room 93 (top floor). The counseling
team is made up of three grade level counselors, an outreach counselor,
and a receptionist. Grade level counselors provide individual and group
counseling, assisting in areas of academic, personal, and social concerns.
Each grade level counselor is assigned to students by alpha and grade
level boarding.
Counselors also
work closely with parents, teachers, and administrators to support student
success and achievement. Each trimester a grade level counselor is assigned
to a team to gather information about students that will be disseminated
to the appropriate counselor. When necessary, counselors will attend
individual student conferences and follow up as needed. If additional
services are required, a referral to the outreach counselor is made.
The outreach counselor provides more specific interventions to address
students' needs. Referral to outreach can be done through the grade
level counselor and/or administrators.
At
any point in the school day a student may be called out of a class.
Teachers will receive the student's pass prior to the scheduled appointment.
If students are not able to attend because of tests or presentations,
the student should call the Counseling Center to reschedule.
