Developing
as a Japanese Language Teacher
During my formal education as a Japanese language and linguistics student
I was introduced to some academic learning theories. I also began a more
rigorous classroom project of experimentation and student observation.
I learn best by trial and error, through self-discovery. A risk taker
by nature, I opted to see things for myself rather than following the
prescribed textbook methodology. After seven and a half years teaching
at University of Hawaii, I took a permanent teaching position at Kamehameha
Schools, a college-prep school for children of Hawaiian ancestry.
