It is easy to take the chapter materials and create holistic activities which take the students into the next level of competence. Incorporating music, drama, art and other investigations are easily incorporated. Each year I look forward to coming up with different interesting culminating activity for each chapter, because I can take the ever-evolving student profile and interests into consideration and include them within a fun and ultimately expansive activity. Through these activities students learn to expand the text materials to incorporate their own interests and develop their own personalized repretoire of expressions and grammatical structures. To spread these student innovations to other members of the class and to other classes, then, is but an easy step away.
