Opportunity #1- Christmas Vacation Civil War Movie & Assignments for APUSHers (30pts max.)

APUSH Movies and the Civil War Directions
Your task for Monday, January 9 is to watch a movie – one related to the Civil War!
I suggest you get together with classmates and make a party out of it! Of course, I expect you to do more than simply watch a movie related to the Civil War; I expect you to reflect critically upon it, and write about it, as it relates to Civil War history.
You may choose any movie focusing on the Civil War, though I most strongly recommend either Glory, Gettysburg, Cold Mountain or Gods & Generals. You should write about how this movie affected your understanding of the Civil War. What seemed to be the theme of the movie, and what did it convey about the main characters and the events depicted? What did you learn about the Civil War from this movie? You also need to consider the historical accuracy of this movie. This means you must relate it to the facts of the Civil War, at least as they are described in American Pageant.
As an alternative, you can view Ken Burns’ The Civil War and write about it. You should view at least 3 hours of this 9-hour documentary. You need to describe the factual content in significant detail, explain any implied interpretation by Burns, and relate it to the way American Pageant describes the Civil War.
Your paper should be 2 to 4 pages in length; it will count a maximum of 30 points.

Opportunity #2- Ms. Pojer's Christmas Carol Assignment for Webb APUSHers (30pts max.)

Christmas Carol DIRECTIONS:
