A second math program currently used at KES is a standards based math
program called Investigations in Numbers, Data, and Space. Investigations
in Numbers, Data, and Space encourages students to reason mathematically,
develop problem-solving strategies, and represent their thinking using
models, diagrams, and graphs. Investigations is infused with teachers’
practical suggestions and strategies, based on the extensive field testing
of the curriculum in diverse classrooms. The curriculum was funded in
part by the National Science Foundation and is published by Scott Foresman.
This site provides information for educators and parents about the program,
about the research that developed the program, and some suggested math
games to play with students.

Another
math program called Connected Mathematics (CMP) was funded by the National
Science Foundation to develop a mathematics curriculum for grades 6,
7, and 8. It helps students develop understanding of important concepts,
skills, procedures, and ways of thinking and reasoning in number, geometry,
mesurements, algebra, probability, and statistics.
