ROYAL GREETING - The royal court of King David Kalakaua from the Merrie Monarch Festival was on hand to officially greet the crew of the Hokule'a when they landed their famous craft at the Naniloa Surf Hotel pier Sunday afternoon. Also on hand was the mayor who proclaimed this week to the "Hokule'a Week." The Hokule'a will be berthed at the Naniloa Hotel until May 13.
PROUD MOMENT - The crew of the Hokule'a is escorted toward its Hilo landing point by a crowd of other boats Sunday afternoon while thousands cheered from the shore. The entry into Hilo was the first for the replica of the famous Polynesian canoe.
