WINONA KAPUAILOHIA MANONOKALANI DESHA BEAMER, KSG 1941, (1924-2008) passed away peacefully in her sleep
at her home in Lāhaina.  She was 84.
  1. A descendant of six generations of Hawaiian musicians and composers, she stated at Kamehameha Schools as a kindergarten student.

  2. Suspended for offering an ʻoli, and briefly expelled for dancing a standup hula, the self-described ʻrebelʻ Winona Beamer helped Hawaiian culture find its rightful place at Kamehameha Schools...ʻThey were making us what we were not.  So, I became a rebel,ʻ Beamer would later say. ..

  3. She taught at Kamehameha Schools from 1964-1985. 

  4. In 1967, she introduced the Hōʻike portion of Song Contest.

  5. The Hula Preservation Society now led by MAILE LOO Ching, KSK 1984, is her continuing  legacy.IMUA, Kupulau 2008

 
DIANA LORD (1926-2008) principal of Kamehameha
Intermediate School passed away at the age of 82.

Christianity has been a part of Kamehameha Schools since its inception.  Kahu guide haumana and help with entry to six colleges.  

Pauahi statue artist, SEAN BROWNE KSK 1971,  is unveiled at the Royal Grove at the Royal Hawaiian Center, the new name for the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center

Kamehameha Schools Literacy and Support (LIS) program is in 13 Department of Education schools.
